Gracious, it has been a while, huh? Sorry about that! I had to take a bucket list trip. Really, simple as that. I wasn’t even thinking about this blog during the trip, that is how bucket listish it was! Iceland. Yes, Iceland. Yes, it was cold. And it snowed. And there was ice on the roads. But, in all fairness, it snowed a little in New York right before we left for Iceland. Also, it was UNUSUAL for them to have as much snow as they did, so really, not that crazy to go. Northern Lights. Need I say more?
So, forgive me for taking somewhat of a hiatus from the blog. I will make up for it, I promise! Here’s a little fun from today at least! The herb garden is done. Thanks to the Hubs, we have a much better fencing design which will hopefully keep some silly Yellow Dog out!
So, my thyme and oregano came back with a vengence from last year. I added one rosemary plant (they get huge!), one cilantro, four sweet basil and one cherry tomato plant.
First, I LOVE cilantro and basil. One cilantro will last most of the spring, so, I can’t actually eat much more than it produces since the Hubs is simply not as excited about it as I am. The basil however, gets eaten on everything. Really, everything. So, it is never enough. I will say, I did not get adventurous and go for the “cinnamon basil”. I kind of like cinnamon, but certainly not as much as the “normal” basil, so I stuck with what I love.
Why did you plant a tomato plant in your herb garden? Thanks for asking! From what I have read, been told and from how well my basil plants did last year, I think that tomato plant helps basil grow! It certainly didn’t hurt, so why change a good thing? I will not plant basil without tomato. There, I said it. They just love each other and who am I to stand in the way?
Believe me, the garden got some love today too, but that is another post!
I made sure there was good poo on there and good soil. I will be adding another layer of compost this week. That’s the technical how-to on this. Hubs added the 4x4s to keep the fencing tight and straight.
Here’s tonight’s view in closing! Happy Sunday!
